Walter's congressman is John J. Duncan, Jr. Whether he's your congressman or not, let's inundate his office with emails and faxes requesting his help for Walter and Shannon. I've already written the letter for you, so all you have to do is email it or fax it to his office. Either way, be sure to include your name and address.
Following this link to email him: http://duncan.house.gov/services/contact-information.shtml.
You can also fax his Maryville, TN office at (865) 984-0521.
Following is a letter you can use, or feel free to write one of your own. Thanks for your help!
Aaron
Dear Congressman Duncan,
I am writing on behalf of my friends Walter and Shannon Herron who have been struggling financially for a little over two years now. This all started when Walter was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain bleed, and since then has had to undergo two brain surgeries. As a result of his condition, Walter gets throbbing headaches daily and is unable to drive or perform even the most minor of physical tasks for very long. His long term disability insurer has denied his benefits on the basis of it being a pre-existing condition (which it is not). This family has been forced to live on Shannon's small salary of $10.50 per hour, hardly enough to provide even the basics for their family of five.
Despite all this the federal government has up to this point refused to label Walter as disabled, and as a result he is unable to get the assistance he needs from the agencies that could help otherwise. It is very obvious that Walter cannot physically provide for his family, so I'm at a loss as to why the federal government will not label him as disabled. I beseech you to please look into this and so that this wonderful family might get the help they deserve.Sincerely,
Your name and mailing address
